Crabapple tree along sidewalk: Malus zumi calocarpa (Zumi crab apple)

From Apple and man by Fred Lape, Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1979, page 106:
Malus zumi calocarpa is more dense. Its fruits- small, bright red, and hanging long on the trees - are the more attractive of the two. [Malus hupensis and Malus zumi calocarpa]. Both can be depended upon to be covered with flowers every spring with every branch profusely covered with flowers pink in bud but fading soon to white. Their dependability has made them popular for parks and for plantings around commercial buildings, and both are reasonably common in the nursery trade.
